from afar

A poem about two lovers being in a long distance relationship and having to remind each other that the beauty of being together will come back around

From afar we all seem connected

Swimming in a community pool

Grilling under the sun

Acting a fool

From afar we seem intelligent

Learning a new thing

Applying ideas

Waiting for the flowers to bloom in spring

From afar you may even say we seem happy

Listening to our favorite tune

Dreaming of better days

Waiting at our window for the big bright moon

I sit and wait

Waiting for the day to see you

The moon, shining so bright

I hope it's the same moon you look at tonight

Miles away, I can't hear you

Smell nonexistent, your touch so close

From afar you even seem in reach

If only you and the moon just froze

We sit on opposite sides

Distant from our love

But the minute the moon appears

From afar, we are two doves

Two doves flying high

One behind the other

Always one step ahead

The moon doesn't seem to bother

From afar we are happy

But up close reality hits

If this gets any farther

I don't know when we will quit

When the moon rises tonight

Promise me one thing

From afar we may seem distant

But remind me that the flowers will bloom in spring
